SANDUGO STREETDANCING TODAY
Tagbilaran City, 26 July 2009 - Today, the major streets
of Tagbilaran will be filled with revelry as nine (9) competing
groups will showcase the spirit and essence of this year’s streetdancing
activity based on the theme “Panag-hiusa sa Kaliwat, Kalamboan sa
Tanan."
They are the municipalities of Balilihan, Baclayon, Corella, Maribojoc,
Trinidad, and Tubigon, Catigbian National High School, Immaculate
Mary Academy of Catigbian, and the City of Tagbilaran represented
by the Dr. Cecilio Putong National High School. As a special presentation,
a group from the municipality of Inabanga which has recently launched
its Raffia Festival and its bid for the world’s longest continuous
woven raffia record will also be performing
All contingents will assemble at the Tagbilaran City Tourist Port
at 11:00 a.m. The streetdancing parade will move through Gallares
Street starting at 12:30 pm, turning at JS Torralba Street, Sarmiento
Street fronting the Cathedral Parish of Saint Joseph the Worker,
proceeding to CPG Avenue and ending at the CPG Sports Complex.
Top-three winning groups will be receiving cash prizes amounting
to P200,000.00, P150,000.00 and P100,000.00, respectively, with
trophies.
Senator Francis "Chiz" Escudero will be the guest of honor.
Judging will be comprised of the parade and dance showdown performances.
In every judging area, there will be judges assigned and the same
will score during the full performance of the dance competition.
They will employ a ranking system (raw scores will be converted
into ranks. In case of a tie, the contingent that gets the most
number of higher ranks will be declared as the frontrunner. For
the showdown, judges will rate the contingents for its performance,
choreography, costume and music, while the street dance performance
will take into consideration energy level (endurance and sustained
quality performance), parade dance steps (choreography of progressive
movements), and orderliness (discipline, clarity of formation and
effective use of props).Decision of the judges shall be final and
unappealable.
The streetdancing competition is being coordinated by the Bohol
Sandugo Foundation, Inc. (BSFI), through Tagbilaran City School
Division’s Joseph Barrette, crowd control and contingent arrangement
committee chair, Baclayon’s Councilor Carmen C. Gatal, streetdancing
committee chair, Tagbilaran City Mayor Dan Neri Lim, BSFI chair,
and city deputy mayor Mariano L. Uy as acting BSFI chairman.

Sandugo fest 2009 contingents bared
Tagbilaran City, 19 July 2009 - The Bohol Sandugo Foundation,
Inc. (BSFI), through Carmen C. Gatal, chair of the streetdancing
committee, bared the nine participating contingents in this year's
streetdancing competition.
They are Balilihan, Baclayon, Corella, Catigbian - Catigbian National
High School, Catigbian - Immaculate Mary Academy, Maribojoc, Trinidad,
Tubigon and Tagbilaran City, represented by the Dr. Cecilio Putong
National High School.
Top three winning groups will receive cash prizes of P200,000, P150,000
and P 100,000 with trophies, respectively. As a special presentation,
a group from the municipality of Inabanga which has recently launched
its Raffia Festival will also be performing.
On Friday last week, during the meeting with the Sandugo participating
contingent choreographers, it was announced that the streetdancing
will start at 12:30 p.m. Tagbilaran City Mayor Dan Neri Lim chairs
the BSFI, while Mariano L. Uy, deputy mayor, is the executive director.
